Requirements

English native speakers from US, Canada, UK and Australia, meaning that you were born and grew up in any of these countries. Valid government ID or official documents are required, such as passport, birth certificate etc. A passport is highly preferred. A bachelor's degree in any field or current enrollment in a four-year college program. TESOL / TEFL or any other ESL certificate is required per the Chinese Government's policy for online teaching/tutoring. A degree in ESL Education is also acceptable. Tutoring/teaching /mentoring experience is preferred. Enjoy tutoring through digital media. Basic computer skills are preferred. Enjoy working with children. Stable free time on peak tutoring hours, which is 6 - 9 pm BJT. This is very important since ALO7's partner schools require long-term stability for our tutors.

Pro Tips

You'll want a quiet room with good lighting and a children-friendly background; A computer with a built-in or external camera; Windows or Mac OS system; Headset; A stable and fast internet connection. Internet requirement: 4Mbps/8Mbps (up/down) on Shanghai server, and the Ping should be less than 100 (you can use http://beta.speedtest.net/ to test the speed). A light blue polo shirt or dress shirt is preferred when teaching.

Payment Note

This is an independent contractor position. Each 25-minute class pays $7.50 per class or each 50-class pays $15 per class as base rate. This base rate applies to most programs. Top School Program where some tutors from top 100 universities in US or in the world (UK, Canada, Australia) are invited to tutor this special Program. The base rate for those special classes is $20 per 50-minute class as base rate + Additional Incentive pay. Incentives and freelance opportunities also exist.
